Day 8/31: Metallic Nails

I love sales!
I got this one at Priceline near my work.
Pretty Pretty Pretty
I also have it on my toes at the moment.
I really need to cut back on my nail polish purchasing.

Day 7/31: Black and White Nails

I knew I wanted to do some sort of accent nail for this day, but I needed more time for this so that's my excuse for it taking so long. Anyway, here are the pictures...

I used an Ulta3 black and white for the base coats and then my new striping brush for the stripes :)
I was still a bit rushed, hence the stripes are not as neat as they could be.
In other news, I have some striping tape and other fun things in the mail from the Born Pretty Store. funfunfun

Day 6/31: Violet Nails

I wasn't sure what to do for this challenge because I have a few different purples. In the end I decided on a dark purple. I painted a layer of black polish (I used Ulta3) and then a layer of my BYS purple to get the darker effect.

Here you can see my first attempts at Henna art!

Day 5/31: Blue Nails

I saw this stripey gradient mani somewhere (apologies to the source) and had to try it. I was super happy with the results, it looked great. An easier (and less messy) was to get that gradient effect. I didn't take photos till a few days later (silly me), so that's why they look a bit scummy.
I used my Ulta3 Lily White as the base coat and then a BYS light blue and Blue Marlin by Ulta3 for the top layer.

Country-Lee

I work for WhereIs and make updates for their maps. Part of this involves actually going and checking things, which means ROAD TRIP!!!!! A couple of times a year a pair of us will take a week or two to drive around and check things. This last trip was around NSW, Australia. It's pretty fun, seeing the country, having work pay for your food and accommodation and being out of the office. We do work long days though, so it's not all fun and games (I think 14 hours was our longest). This trip was a week long and I managed to take 241 photos! I think they were mainly of the cool food I ate, but here are some of my favourites.

The Golden Guitar in Tamworth

Some pretty bush we drove through

A friendly dog came to stop and give us directions!

The Holbrook Submarine.
(Why do I do stupid things in photos?)

Some gorgeous scenery near the NSW/VIC border. The photo doesn't begin to capture it's loveliness.

So I think this road is closed...good thing there is a speed sign in the field :)

I love icecream! This is strawberry sorbet with sour worms and fruit tingles. AMAZING!

A peacock casually strolling along the road.

Gorgeous view from the coast in Eden. This is from the top of a cemetery overlooking the coast.

Breakfast by the water in Merimbula on the last day. I had some fancy omelette, thanks work :)

Day 4/31: Green Nails

It took me awhile to get around to this post, partly because I have been super busy, but also because I could not find a green I liked. All the greens I have are very lime-y and clash, but then I found Mojito by Ulta3 and fell in love. This green matches lots of my outfits and stayed on without chipping for a week! So happy :)

I just quickly snapped this photo and was surprised with how well it came out.
You can see my new snake ring.

Day 3/31: Yellow Nails

I'm not a huge fan of yellow because it doesn't really match anything I own. So this mani didn't last long. I'm still trying to get the hang of water marbling. Sometimes it just doesn't like me. I used Ulta3's honolulu for the bases and it's black satin for the water marble. I used a BYS black with a striping brush for the swirl.

Day 2/31: Orange Nails

Just a swatch today. This vibrant orange was given to me by a friend. I think of her every time I wear it. Thanks Naomi!

Colourful-Lee

I went on a kids camp and we all got a canvas to paint. The boys painted footy emblems and the girls painted some pretty flowers. I painted colours. I love colour.

Shortly after this, my mum was going through some old school work of mine and stumbled upon this colouring-in competition I did when I was younger. I had a good laugh when I saw how little I have changed over the years!

This is a colouring-in competition from when I was 8 and then the painting I did aged 22.

On the back of the colouring was this. It reads 'Very proud of her colouring in competition - surprised she didn't win. Exclaimed in amazement/disgust 'the boys who won was just all the children neatly coloured in the lines.'' Haha.

Day 1/31: Red Nails

Here are my nails for the first challenge. The theme is Red. I love having red on my toes, but I find it a bit too strong to have on my fingernails. So I added a black stripe to tone it down a bit and I'm pretty happy with it, even though it was a bit of a rushed job.

Challenging-Lee

As I said in my last post, I have been getting into nail art recently. I love looking at blogs and trying new things. I am not great at it yet, but I have been having fun. One of my favourite blogs is The Nailasaurus, partly because of the name, but definitely because Sam's nails are amazing!

At the moment she is doing a 31 day challenge and I thought it might be fun to give it a go. I won't have time to do my nails every day, but I will see if I can get through it. Below are a list of the challenges. Here goes!

Apologetic-Lee

I have not blogged for a year...well, more than a year...sorry (sad face).

It's been a busy year.
I have completed a thesis and received first class Honours.
I have done some crafting, including crocheting, beading, sewing and more.
I have torn my ACL and had a knee reconstruction.
I have started work as a GIS Researcher, making maps.
I have gotten into nail art (some posts on that to come)

There's just a few highlights.
But I will start this new phase of blogging as I left off,
with some photos from this years Vivid light festival.
