Bright-Lee

After the Jazz and Blues Festival I went over to Circular Quay to look at the Vivid Light show. It was really interesting and it is amazing how creative people can be with light.

Famous-Lee

I am now an official world record holder!! A few weeks ago I participated in Saxophony - a world record attempt for the largest saxophone ensemble! There was almost 1000 saxophonists! I had a great time and hung around for the Jazz and Blues Festival afterwards. Check out the video and the picture in the link. In the picture I am under the 'N' in the Saxophony sign!

From where I was standing in the group.

My Opa (grandpa) came to watch!

Mum came to watch too!

Me at the festival after.

I met Carl Riseley from Australian Idol because he was singing at the festival.
He signed my CD :)

Busy-Lee

So, I have been really busy lately, with no time to make much. My thesis field work has started which is exciting, but time consuming. So sadly, not much creating time.

I did darn a pair of socks and mend a jacket. Does that count? Not really worthy of a photo though.

I did make my mum a groovy birthday card which hopefully I'll post when I am less crazy busy.

So while I am still creating...havoc...haha...I havent got much to show for it right now. Maybe soon.

Geographica-Lee

These are the maps I have created for my Honours thesis. I think they are great! They turned out just how I wanted them to. I am going to get people to draw on them how the river is significant to them. I am so excited!

First-Lee 2

I crocheted this vest awhile ago. It was the first thing I crocheted. It got me hooked! (haha!)
My mum crocheted a poncho with a similar stitch to this and one day when I was visiting my grandparents I asked my grandma to teach me to crochet. She is an amazing crochet-er and has made me things before. So she taught me using this ugly brown acrylic yarn and when I got home I took the left over black cotton from mum's poncho and made this vest.
It was just 3 panels sewn together. One wide one for the back and two thinner ones for the front. If you look carefully at the pictures you can see I did a border at the bottom. It was actually by accident, but I really like it there.

Warm-Lee

These are some hand warmers I crocheted about a year ago. They are very handy (pardon the pun!) for keeping my hands warm but still letting me do things.
I made them from a brown acrylic I bought from Lincraft and adapted them from a pattern I found. I think I used a triple crochet stitch (depending on where you are from), but as it was my first time crocheting I didn't take much notice of the stitch.
They are super easy to make, just crochet two rectangles and then join the ends to make a tube, leaving a gap for your thumbs.
When I made the thumb holes, I did it before I joined the ends by stopping my original stitch and doing a chain for a bit before joining again and doing my original stitch. I then finished with a few more rows of my original stitch before joining it.

Edib-Lee

I made pizzas with my family a few weeks ago. I meant to upload this earlier but my computer was being dumb. That aside, The pizza was amazing. I had so much fun preparing the ingredients and making little signs for some of them.

These are herbs from my garden. Im pretty sure they made the pizza.
It was amazing.
Like a party in my mouth!

My dad, the pizza cutter.

In the oven.

Ready to eat.
Yum!

Musical-Lee

I recently got a new computer and I was playing with Garage Band and Photoshop this afternoon. Although I didn't create anything worth sharing on Garage Band, here is a photo for fun!

Luminous-Lee

I think that everyone has had their turn out in the night with sparklers and a long exposure on the camera, but I went on a camp mid last year and got it out for the kids and they loved it! It never gets old.

Here are some of the best!

Sister-Lee

I had a sewing day awhile back and made this pillow case for my sister. She just got her room redone and it looks super cute in pinks and greens and blues. My sewing is not the best, but I think I did alright for a first attempt and making it up on the spot.
I did all the sewing on the machine except for the heart and 'H' I embroidered.

I found these super cute buttons for the back.
Don't look too closely at the button holes, but appreciate the buttons!

Photographica-Lee

Here are some photos I have 'created.' I actually had these printed, although just small prints, I'd like to get them done bigger one day, but I have to decide where I would put them. Maybe when I have my own place I can get them done nicely...

Huge-Lee

I am beginning a huge creation at the moment. A Thesis. Yes, Thesis with a capital T. I have just begun my honours year at uni and am writing a thesis on the significance of the Shoalhaven River for young people as seen through participatory mapping.

What this means is that I go down to Nowra (the town on the river), get some groups of kids together and ask them to draw on a map where they like to go on the river and what things they do there and who they go with, etc... then I analyse the maps and what they say and find out the significance of the river. It sounds so simple!

I have until October to do all this, write it all up and continue reading the academic literature surrounding it. I have up to 25,000 words. Today I submitted a 10-page introductory outline. Off to a (hoppefully) good start!

First-Lee

I love making things. I love nothing better than starting a new project. However, so many of my projects begin and fly for awhile before succumbing to the 'craft cupboard/shelf' only to be discovered years later, covered in dust and out of fashion, never to be finished.

Recently I have actually finished some projects! Hooray! And so, although quite narcissistic of me, I have created a blog to help me celebrate these accomplishments and see things through.
